Ultimate Frisbee
Run, jump, throw – without dominating males. WLTI*-frolicking on the campus grounds.
Sexism is…
An introductory lecture based on Laurie Penny’s “Meat market” questioning the status quo of gender relations and giving different examples. Discuss different action alternatives which might be suitable to overcome sexist circumstances.
Herstory
Though obviously dominated by male induced developments the “long 19th century” is a century of the women’s movement and the suppression of women. The social historical perspective which blinds out women will be illuminated by examples of strong females from England, the U.S. as well as India, China and Turkey.
With those in view the 19th century becomes a time of scandalous demands, protests, international women’s congresses, women’s magazines, fights for girls’ education and against war next to specifically female revolts against poverty.
Let’s take an unraveling look at this century from a feminist perspective! Tell her Story!
Many, one, mine / Performing femininity
WLTI* Workshop by Lisa Schlauschlau
“The” one femininity does not exist. Every person has his_her own images, experiences and associations shaped by socialization, environment and society.
This workshop offers an opportunity to expose, deconstruct and re-build the representations, internalization and externalization/sale of femininity in a playful and performative way.
Please bring clothes in which you like to move – black at best.
“My mom is head of department, every day she stands her grounds…” / The image of women in the GDR
Sabrina Zachanassian – meine Frauengruppe
Asking the older generation in Eastern Germany it seems as if women were equal in socialist times: they had a job, a divorce or even became mayor; they were – in the good and in the bad sense – a comrade among comrades far off feminist activities/difficulties. Soon the socialist regime proclaimed a successful emancipation demonstrating its supremacy over class enemies.
We will look at this myth of a completed emancipation with the help of movie snippets by male directors who thereby constructed this new socialist ideal.
Politically correct, but else … ? – On the suitability of alternative pornography
Korinna Linkerhand – meine Frauengruppe
It has been a popular thesis since the second-wave feminist movement, if not before, that misogynistic clichés are nearly stylistic devices of heteronormative pornography.
This workshop shall examine the alternatives provided by male and female pornographers during the last couple of years. Will even philogynistic porn suffer from conventional ideas of how men and women love and how they have to look like while having sex? And what about lust constituted by a patriarchal and heteronormative society? Even more extreme: Is traditional porn sexist but horny while alternative porn may be politically correct but boring?
Just come differently – On female sexuality and criticism of penetration
Sabrina Zachanassian – meine Frauengruppe
In times when individuation and its guarantee seem most virtuous, there are – in any woman – internalized rules of conduct which work as self-constraints. That means that any violation of physical or sexual norms may not only be sanctioned by society but by the individual itself.
Connected to an androcentric view on sexual intercourse and its adhering discourse it is not surprising that many women need vast times of experimenting in order to reach satisfying sexuality. Women may know and articulate what they do NOT want but most of them are unaware of what they want instead.
Bearing this in mind we will have a look at the common practice of pretending orgasms. And with the help of Jessica Benjamin’s psychoanalytical approach we will analyze female passivity. Additionally, the pressure produced by sexually emancipating women the late 1960s will be questioned as feminist coup.
Some like it hot, some like it not – Talk & workshop on a_sexuality* and a_romance*
*asexual: lack of feeling sexually attracted to other people
*aromantic: a person does not feel romantically attracted to anyone
Many questions shall be answered! What are the meanings of different notions surrounding asexuality? Is it suitable to ask for reasons why people feel such ways? What are allosexim* and amatonormativity*?
During this talk and workshop we are going to look at these topics and the underlying concepts of sexuality, sexual attraction, romance and romantic attraction. And we will watch personal accounts by people who refer to themselves as asexual, aromantic, graysexual or demisexual. Let’s discuss how queerfeminist, sexpositive spaces could be supportive to these people?
Andrzej Profus analyzes the difference between friendships and relationships. He defines himself as graysexaul and wtfromantic and does other interesting things like writing a blog: http://asexyqueer.blogsport.de/
